How to place a trade online through Stock Doctor?

Placing a Trade

Once you have linked to a Bell Direct account, you can place trades through Stock Doctor.

To place a trade, login to your Stock Doctor account

  • Click on the 'Portfolio' tab from the top menu.

  • Select a portfolio

  • Then click the orange New Buy button or Transactions drop-down > Bell Direct New Sell button for a specific share.

You can also place a trade from the individual security screen by clicking on the orange New Buy and New Sell buttons.

  • You can also place a trade directly from a companies '9 Golden Rules screen' by clicking on the orange arrow Trade button in the top grey tool bar.

When you select to enter a 'New Buy' trade, the order pad will appear in Blue. If you select to enter a 'New Sell' trade, the order pad will appear in Red

  • In the Order pad, you will need to enter in the Company code.
    Once the code is entered, you will be able to see it's last price and market depth in the right panel. 
  • Select the order amount you want to place, by clicking the Value or Quantity button.
    (In the example above, we've selected Quantity)
  • Key in the quantity of shares.
  • Next, select the type of order you want to place, by clicking the Market or Limit button.
    (In the example above, we've selected Limit)
  • Then, enter the Price per share in the 'Price ($)' box.
  • Select how long your order is Good until, from a day only to a specific expiry date.
  • After you have completed entering all required fields, click Review Order
  • Review your order, then click on the orange Place Order button

  • Once you've submitted your order, you will receive a confirmation page displaying if the order placement has been 'Successfully placed' or 'Failed to place'.

  • Successfully placed trades may take up to 5 mins after the order has been executed to appear in the Stock Doctor portfolio manager
  • Click Close to return to Stock Doctor
  • Click View Orders to check your order status in Bell Direct.
  • If an order fails to place, it will display the reason why the order failed under 'Order placement status' and an 'Amend Order' button will appear to edit the order.

If you have difficulties placing an order, please call Bell Direct on 1300 786 199 and select option 1. 

Amending a submitted order

To amend a submitted order:

  • Click on the 'Portfolio' tab, select your portfolio.
  • Click the orange View Orders button. 
    ** This will open a Bell direct webpage in a new tab.
  • Click on the Amend Order icon.
  • Edit the order
  • Enter your Bell PIN and click Confirm.

Cancelling a submitted order

To cancel a submitted order:

  • Click on the 'Portfolio' tab, select your portfolio.
  • Click the orange View Orders button. 
    ** This will open a Bell direct webpage in a new tab.
  • Click on the cross (x) icon on the right of the order. 
  • Key in your PIN to confirm.
  • And, your order is Cancelled.

Recording a Manual Buy or Sell transaction without submitting a trade order

  • Click on the 'Portfolio' tab from the top menu.
  • Select a portfolio
  • Click the drop down arrow next to New Buy or Transactions 
  • Select New Manual Buy or New Manual Sell.

You can also enter Manual Buy or Sell transactions from the individual security screen, by clicking on the dropdown arrow next to New Buy or New Sell and select New Manual Buy or New Manual Sell.
